As part of this special pop-up event, OESR is excited to showcase a new and distinctive logo, “Bindi Raikos.” Designed by Mary, this special artwork has a unique story behind it. Please take a moment to read about the inspiration and meaning behind her design.

"Bindi Raikos - 2025

Hello! My name is Mary Raikos. I am a current student at the Herron School of Art and Design at IU Indianapolis pursuing Visual Communication Design with a Certificate in Architectural and Interior Design Graphics.

Our family lost our 12-yr old English Setter Sam a couple of years ago. Once you are owned by an English Setter there is no going back. When Ashley asked if we could care for Bindi after a surgical procedure, we jumped at the chance to help her. Little did we know (or maybe we did) that we would all fall in love with her. Bindi recovered quickly and adopted our 2-yr old Swiss Mountain Dog, Rosie. These two are now best buddies. Bindi has moved into her forever home, and into all our hearts. She is silly, affectionate, cuddly and eager to please."

Our English Setter Rescue (OESR) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit breed specific rescue. Our organization was originally founded in Ohio in 2009 and formerly known as Ohio English Setter Rescue. We now have fosters, adopters, transporters, and volunteers throughout the continental United States.

Adoption Process

STEP 1

FILL OUT APPLICATION
We have a rigorous adoption process to ensure these dogs are well cared for. Please ensure you have read all the steps on the adoption page before continuing.

STEP 2

PHONE SCREENING
After your application is received and screened for completion, a team member will contact your personal and veterinary references. A short phone interview will follow. This will be documented and submitted to the board for review.

STEP 3

HOME VISIT
Upon approval, a virtual home visit will be scheduled with a Home Visit Volunteer at a mutually beneficial time for the applicant and home visit volunteer. The volunteer will then submit a report to the board.

STEP 4

BOARD REVIEW
The OESR Board reviews this information and approves or denies the applicant. Once approved, an applicant can have direct contact with a foster home to seek detailed information about a specific dog in the program.

STEP 5

TRANSPORT
We attempt to transport our dogs as quickly as possible. It should not take more than 2 weeks for us to see that your dog arrives safe and sound. FULL adoption fees must be paid and signed contracts submitted before transport or transfer of a dog. OESR will assist in transporting an adopted dog up to 1000 miles from their current location.

Become a foster

Unwanted dogs tend to come across our desk from every direction. We don’t have a choice as to if they are male or female, young or old, cat friendly or not. Many times we do not have the time to wait to find a foster home as they require a commitment immediately.

In order for us to function as a rescue we need to have approved foster homes ready and willing to help when we get notice of a dog in need.
